More about the event

Date: 11 May 2011

Concept: The World’s Biggest Pub Quiz will be held in venues all around the UK. Most venues will hold the same quiz at the same time, on the same evening. Quiz questions and answers will be available prior to the event. The central quiz will be broadcast live over the internet to be streamed into venues, and paper copies will be distributed to those in need. All marketing collateral will be provided, including posters, a press release template, and balloons.

Aims:  Beat the Guinness World Record for Largest quiz – Multi venue; Raise funds and awareness of the Family Holiday Association, which is a national, UK-wide charity that gives a break to young families coping with difficult circumstances.

Organiser: The Family Holiday Association is co-ordinating the event; each venue will have a volunteer host.

Promotional campaign: Full regional and national PR/media campaign; integrated digital and social media campaign.

As the Family Holiday Association is the official charity partner for TUI Travel (UK & Ireland), the UK's largest travel company, the core group of quizzes will be hosted by TUI UK & Ireland staff in their local pubs.

Haven, also a strong supporter of the charity, operates 35 holiday parks across the UK and plans to hold a quiz at each of them.

However, we are actively recruiting other charity supporters, venues, and the wider public to join in our attempt to smash the world record. We aim to involve as many of the 54,000 UK pubs as possible (as well as other suitable venues).

Although the venues will be geographically dispersed, the aim is that everyone involved feels connected; as if they are taking part in one large event.
